BMW 323i Air con broken down 2000 reg 24 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, As the subject says the air con on my 2000 reg BMW 323i has broken down. There's roughly 100k miles on the clock. A local garage recharged it about a month ago, giving me the impression that this would solve the problem. However, while this fixed it for three weeks or so there is now no cold air coming out at all, which I assume means that it is leaking. -

Can an independent car dealer find you a car? 20 Oct 2023 (Forum)
What automatic cars some do have are either old like 2005 plates or they’re 100k+ on mileage. I know exactly what car I’m after a BMW 1 series, petrol or diesel, looked various models on autotrader and did insurance checks so to get a rough idea and I can afford it, since some of the BMW quotes were either similar or the same price as non BMW’s. -
BMW 520d M Sport Touring - VED rates 11 Aug 2020 (Forum)
I'm in the market for a 'new' car after putting up with my Mercedes E250 CDI Estate for nearly 10 years and another bill on Friday for £300 for new suspension springs after a B service the week, bringing repair and service costs to a total of £6,000, or £600 a year or over 60p a mile (and that doesn't include depreciation, fuel, insurance or road tax!) I've looked at buying a 19/69 facelift BMW 520d M Sport Touring for £25k, but because the original list price was £44k, the VED will be £475 a year for 5 years, which I'm not willing to pay for the small number of miles I do. -
BMW X3 - fix/sell or sell a sorn money pit? 20 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Hi people, As I've recently joined and benefited from advice here, I just thought I'd get an opinion that may help a friend of mine. They have been driving a low usage 2.0 diesel BMW X3 2006 which has a valid MOT for a while but current status is SORN and not on the road. According to dealer when they last checked it, the quote was 1 aux belt damaged, 2 under tray damaged, 3 rear exhaust heat shield insecure/broken 4 water pump collapsed. -
BMW 1 Series - What to look for when buying a used car 15 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Hi there this is my first post so apologies if this has been answered already! I am looking to buy a bmw 1 series and I have a budget of £8000. I would ideally like to pick one up in the £7000 range leaving me with £1000 just in case anything goes wrong. I have made terrible choices in the past due to a lack of knowledge on cars bearing in mind they were both in the £2000 range. -
BMW 5 Series - Advice needed 10 week car broken!!!!! 25 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I'm after some advice. I purchased a BMW 520d 2012 registered done 44,000 miles on July 3rd 2016 with a 3 month warranty. Around 1 week ago it started to develop a rattling noise, I called the warranty company, they advised I need to get it diagnosed before they can progress claim which would be at my cost. -
BMW 1 Series Convertible - dealer warranty 26 Mar 2016 (Forum)
i bought a car using a finance company which was found through ZUTO (the broker). when buying the car from the dealer it come with a 6 months warranty which covered wear and tear. after 1 month the car started to develop a grinding noise so i asked two independant mechanics, one of which was a bmw specialist, to listen and have a test drive. they both said that its sounds like the first motion shaft bearing and is a common fault for my model. i took the car back to the dealer to look at to receive a call 2 days later to say that the fault is not covered as its been 'driven hard'. -

MINI Roadster - Honest dealer - well done Wood BMW 5 Aug 2012 (Forum)
She agreed a deposit of £1,350 and paid £1,000 at the time of ordering: today she found that the numbers for settlement price and the PX car's value had moved in her favour and she got £100 back rather than paying £350. Wood BMW of Hook, Hants. could easily have asked for the £350 and hung on to it, and she'd have been none the wiser, so all credit to them for their honesty. They take the long-term view which ought to be commoner among dealers than it is - that a satisfied customer will come back. -
BMW 520 d - diesel injection pump? 1 Aug 2012 (Forum)
The idling speed was all over the place and it frequently stalled on starting up and driving away in first. I took it in to the BMW garage who sorted it and now the idle is fine. But after about 120 miles back came the problems with the power. I often have to change down to second (or sometimes even first) to get up hills which are not very steep, and always have to keep the revs up otherwise it loses power. -
BMW 320i M Sport Touring - Catalytic Converter - Cleaning Additives? 11 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Just put my 08 plate 320i M Sport Touring into my local BMW specialist for a regular brake fluid service. Only had the car 3 months and had experienced a few misfires and generally sluggish acceleration. Car had done 33000 miles when purchased and I don't do a huge mileage - about 7000/year. -
BMW 3-Series E90 (2005 - ) - 05 2.0 small oil leak driving me nuts! 5 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Its very hard to pin point exactly where its from, but checking from the top to bottom it seems to start at the cylinder head. My problem is - I called BMW in Europe and UK and they tell me they never really have to sell or replace the complete cylinder head (plastic housing). My mechanic has suggested it could be warped but to be honest the oil leak seems lower down and this part is about £250 without labour! -
BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - Automatic Gearboxes and Coasting/Freewheeling 15 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Hello all, I have a question; When driving my 3Litre BMW Diesel lump around, I often drop the tiptronic automatic box into neutral when I can see the traffic well ahead is stopped. As I can sometimes see 1-2 miles ahead, I do it from 70mph sometimes on the dual carriageway and arrive at the slow traffic at a leisurely 30mph... -
BMW 3-Series E90 (2005 - ) - Why no temperature guages? 9 Mar 2008 (Forum)
In my Audi I can monitor both the water and oil temperatures and avoid high loads before they indicate that the engine has reached operating temperature. Is there any form of indicator/warning, perhaps digital, in the BMW ? Again on the temperature theme, When I read a car manual (only occasionally!) I see that there is often reference to a pre-heating system which can be set to warm the engine before starting in cold climates. -
BMW 316i - customer options. 18 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I recently bought (Feb 2007) a BMW 316i 1999 4 door saloon with 65,000 miles on the clock. The car cost £3900. I bought the car from a dealer. When i went to view the car it had a full service history. I took it for an hour test drive and no issues arose. -
Used PCP deals 27 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Now if I got this car, I would either have to go for a deferred loan through a bank or the BMW pcp scheme. BMW have said they would be prepared to drop the APR from a high 10.9%, but wouldn't give an exact figure until I committed to buying. Payments (with a £7200 deposit) would be £171/month (at original 10.9%) with a GFV after three years of £10500. -
18k to spend - speed & prestige needed 23 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I now want to buy something that will be in the next level up of performance, and want some prestige with it too (sad I know) which means not having something too old unless it's pretty special. The cars I've thought about are: BMW M3 E46 ('01 ish) -- worried about losing value now new shape is due BMW Z4 ('03) -- A4 Conv 3.0 / 3.0 quat ('02-'03) -- doesn't look that fast on paper (7.6s 0-60) Boxter S ('00 ish) -- Other considerations (where running costs scare me): Maseratti 3200 ('99 ish) Merc CL500 ('01 ish) BMW M5 ('01 ish) Has anyone got any feedback?
