  • Nissan Maxima 2007 - Fuel pump replacement 31 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Although I have indicated a car brand, I think that the information I need may apply to any car models. Where do you typically buy your fuel pumps i.e. online or from distributors? Which OEM equivalent fuel pump brand would you recommend I buy and why? Also, have you had to stop using a brand? If yes, why? I have not had very good experiences with OEM equivalent fuel pumps so your advice will help me in taking a decision going forward.

  • Google Maps - handy little fuel price calculator 14 Jan 2012 (Forum)
A little FYI for cost-conscious HJ forumers Google have added a rather handy fuel calculator to their already pretty wonderful MAPS online application. It's not the last word in accuracy (yet) but it seems to be indexing against current fuel prices, and one can tweak this price anyway.
  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 04 1.6 bleeding fuel system 25 Oct 2009 (Forum)
As a result of a problem with the power output of my car { not going into the turbo } I replaced the air filter and fuel filter, the car wont run now , but was starting fine prior to this. I have primed the fuel filter and the filter has definately got diesel in it. After attempting to start it by towing it as the battery is now flat, there is pressure in the system if I release one of the pipes off the filter.
  • Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 97 1.0 humming fuel pump! 30 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I have checked and changed the pump relay and the fuel filter. Is this a fuel pump on its last legs and causing the cutting out? Also why is the pump running in the accesory position? Has me stumped so any advice most appreciated.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 fuel gauge clock 26 Jan 2009 (Forum)

  • Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 1995 1.9TD XUD9 - Fuel pump leak 2 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Hi I have been running this car on 100% veg oil for many months now. It is well known that veg oil attacks rubber and I've been monitoring the fuel pump for any signs of leaks fairly regularly. I have now noticed that there's a small leak which is obviously only going to get worse. I presume the rubber seals on the fuel pump are on the way out.
  • Focus has gone fuel bonkers 30 Apr 2007 (Forum)
My car has "suddenly" become ultra fuel efficient, I don't understand why. Is the weather spot on for max fuel efficiency at the moment I wonder ? I'm now getting over 70+mpg at a steady 70mph or any dual carriageway or motorway, and 77+mpg on A roads with varying gradients etc.

  • 406 Fuel Filter 21 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Afternoon all, I have what I fear is a rather muppit like question. I am trying to change the fuel filter on a 406 HDI (90)(2000) but cant get the fuel hoses off the top of the housing. The Haynes manual is of little use saying to "insert a small screw driver to release the hose." I have tried this and it does not seem to work and I am cautios about applying to much presure on it.
  • scenic fuel filter 23 Apr 2006 (Forum)
hi i have a renault scenic 2002 1.9dci.it has been suggested to me that i should change the fuel filter as it is a probable cause to my jerking at steady speeds then dissapearing on acceleration.it also seems to lack power on the lower end rev range.i have never had to change a fuel filter before or even know any one that has had to.what is the likelyness of this being the prob.the car has only covered 33600 miles and the wrong fuel was put in(previous owner)at 24000 miles, would the filter have not been changed then???
  • New(ish) Petrol 7 Apr 2006 (Forum)
My local Total filling station has just started selling a new fuel - Total Excellium. It is rated at 97RON and the leaflet states that it contains unique detergents. I appreciate it may be a bit too early to say but does anyone have any views on this fuel as it does not appear in the list of fuels in the FAQs.
  • VW TDi fuel pump bolts 13 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Volkswagen said a defect during the manufacturing process of a bolt on the cover of the fuel pump could, ?in isolated cases,? lead to the bolt breaking ? possibly resulting in a leakage of diesel fuel. K2
  • ?Fuel starvation on BMW 5 Series 8 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Have taken out and cleaned all six plugs, all looked OK, so seems like a fuel system problem. Is there an inertia switch somewhere and if so how do I re-set it? HJ's book mentions fuel pump relay problems in several places, where do I find it (the relay not the book)?
