Peugeot 405 GL 1991 (carb) - Engine Cooling fans not working 4 Jul 2012 (Forum)
The only info I have seen as credible is this: You have 1 sensor for the fans & Bitron unit 1 sensor does the temp gauge & ECU (if petrol injection ) The other sensor does the "STOP" & "High temperature" warning lights Thats why Peugeot 405s have 3 temperature sensors. Obviously I have found the temp sensor. I attached a wire each to the remaining sensors and connected the "open" wires to the sensors whenever the engine was hot enough but there has been no response form the fans. -
DPF Q&A -- sheds some light 1 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Obviously the details will differ a little with other manufacturers' DPF implementations, but it does give a good insight into the conditions needed to get typical catalyst-coated DPFs to regenerate, how long a regen. takes, how the ECU manages a regen cycle, effect on oil quality, etc etc. Question: The glow plug symbol is flashing. Why? What should be done? Answer: The DPF regeneration has not been completed during normal driving and now DPF has reached its maximum saturation at which it can still be regenerated. -
Vectra 3.2 V6 2003 - Vectra cuts out and wont start......sometimes 5 Jun 2013 (Forum)
What is causing it to cut out and why after an hour does it start again and run? The internet forums seem to come down to a few possibilities such as ‘ECU’ or ‘Crank case sensor’ or ‘Rad Fans’. Has anyone experienced such an issue and if so how did you sort it and what costs are involved in spares such as a ‘crank shaft sensor’ etc. -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 02 1.9TDi white smoke on cold startup. 25 Sep 2013 (Forum)
The car isn't using any large amount of coolant, I haven't had to top it up for over a year. 2. What sort of temp range does the ECU switch the glowplugs on? I've tried changing it to a longer glow period but it doesn't make any difference. THe light comes on and goes out straight away. 3. Can I know rule out stem valves as it didn't smoke this morning? -
Skoda Yeti - Skoda Yeti - my thoughts on 10K miles / 1 year 1 Sep 2013 (Forum)
The tyres at 10K miles were 1/3 worn on the front and appeared virtually unworn on the back I had 3 unscheduled visits to the main dealer * ECU Flashed / interior bulb replaced * Cam position sensor replaced after ESP failure popped up on the maxidot * Passenger rear door lock replaced after child locks/central locking failed. I then had the Bolero (radio) flashed by the main dealer in order to address the "slow SD card read" issue - this made a huge difference. -
Citroen Saxo VTR 2000 W Reg - Major electrical issue(s) 18 Jan 2012 (Forum)
A recent driveshaft change has identified that the engine is a silvertop engine from an earlier MK1 saxo with a 3 plug ECU but in a MK2 body. It has just reached 60,000 miles and has had 5 owners, it's mechanically pretty sound and looks in good nick for its age. Issues from the start So, ever since I had the car I have had intermittent issues regarding the indicator relay. -
Things we didn't ask for on cars 22 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Is it really better than an ordinary flywheel that lasts the life of the car, because I don't remember many problems with those on the road or track? 2. The beloved ECU.....can it run windows 7, or Vista, does it have a full colour 18 inch display, or 300 gigabytes of storage and 4gb of onboard ram. Does it have multiprocessing ability, can it play music, does it replace your stereo, or MP3 player, can it play DVDs in the car. -
Mitsubishi Outlander - Could it be a failed DMF on a SST (Dual Clutch)?? 20 Nov 2020 (Forum)
3) Take it to the Peugeot dealer who can bill the warranty company directly, assuming the fault is covered, it should be as "all components, friction materials, bearings, ECU's" of automatic and dual clutch gear boxes are specifically named, as is wear and tear - I'll just pay a 20% excess for parts. But they will charge more per hour if its not under warranty and might immobilise the car into the bargain! -
Peugeot 205 (1983 - 1997) - 1990 1.9 GTi starting problems 25 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Found another relay that was not located by the other bank of relays. It is under / near the steering column on the same bolt that secures the ECU. This is what I have found when I disconnect it. The engine turns over BUT when you release the ignition switch from start position the starter motor actually stops spinning!!! (unlike when the relay is plugged in) When it is plugged in the starter motor is continuing to be energised when the ignition switch is released from start position. -
Land Rover Defender (1946 - ) - Land Rover or other 4X4 for a smallholding? 27 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Rip out the rear seats, blank out the windows, and I've got a low-cost towcar/van. 2) Keep the Almera, and get an old Land Rover for agricultural and towing use. A friend's son recommends a LR 90 200TDI, on the grounds that their lack of an ECU makes them simpler to maintain. 3) Sod the road tax, and get a LWB Pajero/Shogun or a Toyota Hilux Surf and get rid of the car 4) Compromise on a soft-roader like a Suzuki Grand Vitara (2.0 diesel is a more manageable ? -
Ford Fiesta - Fiesta EAC FAIL 28 Sep 2015 (Forum)
They did a lot of checking and were convinced it was not the tps but first suggested that I needed a new ECU. I immediately got suspicious and lead them to believe that I wouldn't pay to replace that, even though if I knew that was definitely the problem, I probably would. He kept the car overnight because the following day he said they had a ford technician going in to try and sell them some diagnostic equipment. -
Skoda Yeti - My third Yeti 22 Sep 2015 (Forum)
It had a few minor issues during its time with me: new cam position sensor ECU flash (went wrong an immobilised the car) timing chain was becoming increasingly noisy (especially on cold start-up) The fuel economy was disappointing and the car was truly dreadful in snow - wide tyres (Pirelli P Zero Rosso) / light front end. -
Peugeot 207 1.6Hdi 110bhp Sport - 35,095miles - DPF Removal 16 Oct 2012 (Forum)
, but they also bore into & damaged the car's catalytic convertor! Apart from this, they explained to me that s******* Ltd's employee who supposedly carried out the ECU remapping, had increased some of the vehicle's values by between 15 to 17% and, had I continued to drive my car in that condition, I would have done irreparable damage to it which would have resulted in thousands of £s to fix or, at worst, to completely scrap my car! -
Subaru Forester - First 2 months and 2,000 miles of ownership 27 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Over the first few weeks I was really disappointed with the drive. It hesitated when I tried to take off, It seemed to kangaroo after gear changes. It has two ECU modes - I for “intelligent” and S for “sport”. I tried changing between the two, but no difference. I was when looking through the manual I found the suggested gear change speeds – in essence you need to keep the revs at about 2,000. -

Cyclist curfew 11 Jan 2013 (Forum)
destination=node%2F48199%23comment-form">register to post comments michael knight An Alternative 8 hours 1 min ago James...how about an alternative approach; any motor vehicle driving within a town/city centre is automatically slowed to a maximum 20mph. No idea how to do it, some kind of ECU-jamming perhaps.. but imagine the improvement in our environments. Safety, noise, emissions all improved. As for your initial question. No. But as a cyclist myself there's no excuse for not having lights.
