  • Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 04 2.4 D5 Oil pressure 27 Aug 2008 (Forum)
The car has covered less than 44k miles from new, been serviced by Volvo from new and since we bought it at 25k miles had oil changes every 6k miles - always using the recommended 5/30 fully synthetic oil.
  • Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - 2001 SE - Air Con not working - Extended Warranty? 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
    I'm taking it back next Saturday for them to look at, but I've recently read on this forum about an extended warranty by Honda for the aircon on Civic's. Anyone know if my car would be covered if it's year of manufacture is 2001? Regards {3 separate requests missed, so I'll add the year for you - DD}
  • Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 2005 1.4 SRI Head Gasket gone?? 31 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The car has only done 25,000 miles, it has been serviced according to the warranty schedule at a Vauxhall dealers, and i don't drive it hard. I can only think that the head gasket is on its way out? If this is the case is that likely to be covered under warranty?
  • Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - 2004 1.6SE VTEC - Jerky transmission 9 Nov 2007 (Forum)
It is nigh on impossible to manage a smooth drive at this sort of speed. Careful 'riding' on the clutch helps, but does not eradicate entirely. I have owned the car from new, it has covered 23000miles, and has been regularly serviced. The car has been checked for this problem 3 times now by a Honda main dealer who cannot find a fault with it. An independent garage suggested it could be down to the type of clutch fitted.
  • Getting across the Channel 6 Aug 2007 (Forum)
After what happened to us last time SWMBO doesn't really fancy taking even the Prelude to the UK so I looked at car hire rates on the Ryanair site. Apparently, even with a collision damage waiver, I would still be liable for the first 550 pounds of any damage to a rental car unless I take out 'super' insurance cover.

I would be grateful for any comments or suggestions regarding this problem on my car...... Nigel
  • Insurance help needed 26 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I've had a Toyota Starlet and just bought a Volvo S40, called my insurance to change the vehicle on the policy and they're asking me to pay additional £509 for the remaining 6 months. Whereas I've rung other companies, including MoreThan with whom I've got another car covered and they've quoted me £539 for the whole year. What shall i do? Shall I just get a new policy with someone else and let the old policy on the old car until it expires or shall I call my current insurance company and ask them to cancel it?
  • Freelander fuel comsumption 22 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I don't drive aggressively and actually try to drive conservatively. What Car lists this car in manual form as having a combined fuel consumption figure of 37.2mpg. Allowing for mine being an automatic, am I right to be disappointed? Do any other owners have figures of their own?
  • Corsa Problems 4 Jan 2006 (Forum)
There seems to be a strange smell coming into the car. It reminds me of petrol fumes. It doesn't happen all the time, but is very noticeable when it does. From what I can see, there doesn't seem to be any leaks in the engine bay. Ironically, both of these problems seemed to start just after the MOT test (which the car passed).
  • Windscreen Woes - Nissan Primera (2004) 14 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Yesterday I had my car's windscreen replaced. I now cannot adjust the rear view mirror to a position that I can see the whole of the rear window. Car is a 54 Reg Primera with rain sensor and auto dipping mirror. The fitter returned today, (full marks for coming back next day)took the cover off and I noticed that one side of the mirror is slightly lower than the other side.
  • Porsche 944 Opinions 29 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Its up for £2900. Have not seriously thoght about it but have toyed with the idea of having a fun / weekend car for a while now. The car has covered 157K and has the biggest history file I have ever seen. Bodywork looks good other than nearside sill rusting. paint not broken but bubbling from underneath.
  • Sensitve information on V5 2 Dec 2004 (Forum)
But after reading the "Nasty Ebay experience- bloke at the door" thread a few days back, it's enough to make one paranoid - I'm wondering whether I should cover up my address on the V5. I don't want to find the car's disappeared from outside my house one day. Mind you I don't know what the criminal fraternity would do with the precise knoweldge of my car's location.
  • 7 seat MPV rear safety 13 Apr 2004 (Forum)
My brother said that they were no closer to the rear of the car than you were in a supermini but I think you are. Any thoughts?
  • Damaged paintwork due to railway 13 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I've already invested in a car cover. I have looked at the house's windowsills (which were white) and they are deep brown on the horizontal surfaces thanks to this stuff. I'm concerned my white Citroen ZX will resemble an old British Leyland colour before too long.
  • Dangerous driving 18 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Realising he wasn\'t going to be let in the driver carried on against the traffic, round the island that seperates both sides of the road and turned left to go the correct way around the roundabout, narrowly avoiding a multi car pile up. I know this sort of thread has been covered before but I just wanted to get it off my chest. Thanks Chris

  • Diesel oil change advice 29 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere but after 15 years of owning Cits with XUD engines I have aquired the habit of giving them an oil and filter change every 5000 miles. My wife has graduated to an HDi and when I changed my oil yesterday she asked whether I was going to do her car's.
  • Tyres and Road Surfaces 15 Nov 2001 (Forum)
While I do not advocate that drivers should travel on bald tyres there should be some sort of law for local authoroties to comply with by having skid tests on their worn road surfaces as well, and if they are below a set level they should be fined and made put right the surface to a proper safe condition. They put up "slippery road" signs every few miles to cover themselves, can you imagine a car driver travelling around with a sign on four sides of his car saying bald tyres?
  • Porsche Boxster 986 + Boxster S (1996 - 2004) - 00 2.7 Claim against 10 Year body warranty, help o 14 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The author Peter Morgan had had the paintwork restored under a claim agaianst Porsche's Long-Life Warranty. as my car still has a year of the warranty to run, i didn't see a problem. But i was wrong, customer services at reading have rejected the claim and say its not covered, despite their being a known problem and never getting the dealer to fit softs gaskets when it next had a service.I've asked for the reasons why in writing, basically the chap called Richard reckons anything that comes into contatc with the body ain't covered.
  • Mazda cost price 2 Jan 2021 (Forum)
I imagine the gross margin is around 10%, so the actual vehicle is "bought" by the dealer at around £22k. How far off am I? I got my current car for 30% off list price last year and I want a similar deal within the next 2-3 days. I wouldn't want to go too much above cost, to be honest with you, those cars don't sell at all, I've been keeping an eye on autotrader for the last 3 months and the cars are still there.
