Volvo XC60 (2008 - 2017)
2.4 D5 220 AWD SE Nav Auto Start+Stop 5dr
Sturdy reliable and safe
A car that is easy to drive comfortable and if driven with respect economical for a mid sized SUV especially on a long journey and I have found is easy to maintain and doesn't cost much once you find an independent mechanic away from the manufacturers mechanics who can charge excessive amounts, these are some of the positives, I also like the lack of driver aids, but mine does have the eDrive system with brake assist at low speeds although I have only felt this kick in once going over a rail level crossing.
What I have spent extra money on this particular car are the following 1. I had the windscreen refitted because they can eventually leak as the sealant doesn't always bond correctly, 2. Drivers seat repair because of wear. 3. I have had the gearbox serviced and will do every 50,000 miles. 4. Replaced springs as they can be susceptible to breaking over rough ground, obviously these are unique to my car but definitely look out for water ingress around the windscreen on the MK1. What I have also found out is the using the Good-Year Eagle F1 asymmetric 3 tyre seems to give great grip and decent wear, obviously other may find other tyres suit their style of driving better. Over all I think the car is a decent car if you want comfort a decent amount of drive ability without having driving aids do it for you, good all round car which I hope to keep long term.
