Dont judge a book by its cover
Avoid the 2 litre ford diesel engined version of the s40,woeful quality, always serviced at a dealers ,mine is the euro 4 model with the dreaded diesel particulate filter that has to be changed at 72000 miles this cost around 500 pounds, and now i am having loss of power just 30000 miles into its replacement, other notable expenses,a new steering/ignition lock the car was stranded on the drive for two weeks ,a new alternator ,another common problem, also a starter motor and various electrical problems, these are handsome cars but the awful experience i have had, have put me off Volvo and Ford forever, two Rovers before this and the only problem a split radiator hose and 120 plus thousand miles on both.
