Nice car but with some irritations

Bought this ex-demo in August 2020 with 3,000miles on clock, now at 13,000.. Good points. The steering is superb. best of any car I've owned in over 50 years of driving. The handling is also excellent. The seats are supportive and comfortable and there is plenty of room for front and rear passengers. It is very economical, high 60's m.p.g on a recent 200 mile trip on motorways, A and B roads. The stop/start system works very well and the performance overall is more than adequate. Heating and ventilation are satisfactory. it has been very reliable and feels well built although the hard interior plastics, although durable, can be easily scratched.

Not so good points. Visibility ;great looking forwards, appalling when trying to join a motorway or dual carriageway due to thick drivers door and rear quarter panels plus very dark privacy glass on the rear windows. The privacy glass looks good but is not so good when trying to reverse out of a parking space, likewise the thick rear quarter panels. The gearbox is okay but far more notchy than i would have expected on a modern car. The dealer has said this is not unusual. It could also do with a six speed box to reduce the noise levels on motorways.

The instruments look nice and clear, permanently back-lit, but you can't see what speed you are doing if the sun is shining on them. What makes matters worse are the 20 m.p.h increments on the speedometer, the marks for the 30, 50 and 70 m.p.h speeds are so small that they are very difficult to see. When one considers that these are the speeds you really need to see on UK roads I find this to be a major irritation.

Overall it really is a nice car and very good value for money but the aforementioned annoyances and irritations would put me off replacing it with another when the time comes to change.
