Overall reliability

Awful. Most unreliable car I have ever owned.

This is the 3rd Smart Car I have owned. I have had the original Fortwo and a Roadster. I really liked my previous Smarts and the claimed economy which prompted me to buy it in the first place. The first 6 months were mainly trouble free bar the rear washer pipe coming loose and blowing some fuses. The fuel economy was not great but put that down to it being "run-in".
The car started to loose power occasionally and would not rev past 3000rpm. This happened with no warning mainly at faster A-road and Motorway speeds. This resulted in a couple of near misses with Artics having to take evasive action to avoid smashing into my drasticley slowing car. Over the last 2 years (of a 3 year deal) The car has been to the dealer 15 times with the same fault and the fault is still present. The car is awful and I will be so glad to see the back of it. The dealer has been fantastic and fully admit that they can't figure out why it keeps happening.
DO NOT BUY A SMART FORTWO CDI.
