Overall reliability

This is a good spacious, economical family car

Have recently downsized from a previous model Alhambra, used in 5 seat mode at all times, and I have to sat that the Altea XL is a better built more comfortable car for front and rear passengers. The rear passengers' feet go into a footwell rather than on the floor at the same height as the seat.
So far it's averaging 53 to 54 MPG overall in mixed use. The stop start system works well, but I have to say that if I was a commuter into big cities it might be a bit irritating with frequent stop starts. For our journies, its fine.
I don't think the published figure of 61MPG are realistic but for a largish family car, 53 is quite acceptable.
It has the usual DPF need for care and a 2000RPM plus run in 4th every week after a week of urban captivity, just a shame that with so many motorway roadworks about, that 50MPH is just below 2000RPM
Overall I'm very impressed and feel that Seat could do a better marketing job on this car, especially the eco version, because it's a rare sight on the road.
