Overall reliability

A dependable cruiser that offers a cheeky bit of a grunt.

Having purchased this as my first car, I was careful to make sure that I picked something that was affordable, reliable and still had a bit of street cred. I couldn't be more happy with my choice.

The car suits me perfectly, as a student who often uses his car for work, travelling and carrying passengers. I found the rear boot space to be more than adequate, and whilst rear leg-room was sometimes a push (especially sat behind a 6'2 driver), people usually didn't have much to complain about.

Considering it's price and age when compared the likes of the Ford Fiesta and Renault Clio, I felt Peugeot 207 GT spec had far more standard kit, including a full glass panoramic sunroof, half leather seats, 17" alloy wheels (far too easily scuffed in my opinion) and cornering headlights. All of this makes me feel like I'm in a far more expensive and refined car.

On long motorway drives, the 1.6 diesel engine is able cruise comfortably and overtake with little effort (although I often wish there was a 6th gear to reduce cabin noise). Around town the diesel engine is smooth and feels rather nippy, although in stop start traffic the heavy clutch can become quite tiresome. It makes it all worth it though when I'm zipping down country lanes making full use of the 110BHP.

I haven't had too many reliability issues considering it's age and mileage (just passed 86k). Recently the DPF hasn't been cleaning itself correctly, and is currently an ongoing issue (likely a sensor). Other than the odd rattle, which has been fixed with a few tightened screws, it still feels fairly refined.

If you're after a small runabout that gets good MPG, looks good and comes with plenty of standard kit, I honestly can't recommend this enough. Having read mixed reviews on the car, I'd advise making sure the history is all there, and that it has been well looked after. Otherwise it should serve you well and put a smile on your face now and then.
