Car now being sold with 55567 miles. Worked well except for CAT

This is the second Peugeot 2008 of 2015 that was in our family. My son had one to imported from UK to Ireland Second hand. Our car was purchased from a Peugeot dealer in Ireland. Car used a bit of oil between service and at 40k miles the CAT (catalytic converters) failed and as it had a 5 year Peugeot warranty was replaced. The car now has been drinking oil, a pint in 300 miles to the extent we only noticed this starting when the RED light came on. We have monitored it for the past month and it’s getting worse. No smoke, no leaks so is the CAT burning the oil? Will fail next MOT it CAT is.
The other UK import 2015 Peugeot 2008 car has been sold to a garage with the CAT faulty. This car was using oil and again no outward sign of smok from exhaust or a leak.
So there is a problem and I’m not reading about it when I search CAT problem in Peugeot 2008.
