Refined & economical, with adequate performance
I was a bit concerned that the smallest petrol engine would lack power but have been pleasantly surprised. It is seldom necessary to exceed 3000rpm. I saw a press review stating that it is noisy at motorway speeds. This is r******! At 70mph even this 1600cc version is only turning at 2000rpm, probably the same ratio as the bigger engines.
Slight disappointments are firstly the automatic gearbox which does not shift so smoothly as my previous Volvo. Secondly, it is short on legroom for over six-footers in the back.Lastly the on-board computer is too complicated requiring frequent resort to the instruction manual.
