Excellent first impressions

We bought this vehicle to replace our Land Rover Freelander 2 Auto which we owned for six years. Road tax is half that of the Freelander, its averaged 47mpg in its first 1000 miles, whereas the Freelander averaged 31mpg. And the insurance is considerably cheaper. So far so good.

On 19-inch wheels the ride is a little choppy, but acceptably comfortable and much better than the Honda CR-V we drove which was horrible on big wheels. It's not quite as smooth as the Freelander was on its smaller wheels, but it handles and grips like a well set up hatchback, so I guess that is the price you pay. It's certainly a pleasure to drive briskly on twisty roads!
Interior space and comfort is excellent with fully adjustable steering wheel and driver's seat and two memories on the driver's seat position, great for when my wife and I swap positions (no jokes please).

The TomTom sat nav is easier to use than the Freelander's and offers extra features, though voice recognition is rarely successful. Maybe it's my accent?

The Bose sound system is as you might expect, excellent. You can put all you music collection (up to 2000 tracks) onto a memory stick as high quality mp3s and leave it plugged in. So no more fiddling with CDs.

As to reliability we will have to wait and see. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the Freelander which needed a turbocharger, steering rack and various other repairs costing well over £2000 during our 46,000 mile ownership.
