Mazda MX-5 (2015 on)
Convertible 2.0 184ps Sport Nav+ 2dr
Great to drive but not faultless
This is my second mx5, previously having had a 2.0 nc sport.
This is better to drive, great led headlights, better mpg and I think better looking, in lovely colours (mines soul crystal red).
But the paint marks easily and is expensive to get painted, due to difficulty re colour match.
The underside also has very poor rust proofing, so lessons not learnt from mk1.
Be careful re folding the soft top back, as it rubs on the headrests, causing fabric wear/holes if left unchecked. (a £20 rubber spacer, from the Internet resolves this).
The window regulators also are prone to water ingress and early failure, but no expensive to self fix.
And despite only having 22k miles, mine has either a failed DC convertor or capacitor, so the instant stop start no longer works. This is a common problem, that is very expensive to fix (£1k plus per item) and Mazda dealers don't assist or acknowledge it, out of warranty.
So a good car, but let down by declining quality. But fab to drive.
