Overall reliability

An SUV which drives like a hot hatchback.

Anyone wanting a 2WD petrol SUV with a proper torque converter automatic transmission will find their choice very limited. The CX-3 is one of the few which meets these requirements and even has a proper handbrake, not an electronic button waiting to go expensively wrong.
The car is rewarding to drive, with ample smooth power and very responsive handling. The ride on 16 inch wheels is comfortable but firm, and when the time comes for new tyres I will be fitting Michelin Cross Climate recommended by HJ, as the level of tyre roar from the Bridgstones on poor surfaces is irritating. Before purchasing the SE I also tried the Sport model on 18 inch wheels which I cannot recommend.
I knew from other reviews that the CX-3 is not a roomy car, but better use could have been made of the space available. The interior is a triumph of style over practicality. For example, there is no front parcel shelf, the door pockets are very small and anyone sitting behind my 6 foot frame finds very little legroom. This is not a family car, but suits this retired couple very well.
