Ford Kuga (2013 - 2020)
Titanium 2.0 TDCi 140 FWD 5dr SUV
Typical Ford - Functional, reliable and practicle
Bought this to replace a 58 plate 2.0l Focus estate that had proven an excellent work horse and is still going strong today. The Kuga was a complete change. My wife was taken by the higher driving position, I wanted something with enough space to at least match the Focus estate. MPG is not as good as the focus, averaging about 46mpg with mixed, mainly longer journeys and a light foot, around 48mpg on long steady drives, the focus was easily achieving 50+. Driving position is Good as is visibility. So far we've done over 11k miles in 11 months and the car has not missed a beat. Did have a minor issue with some screen wash but dealer sorted it out without charge and we have a rear sensor that keeps playing up when dirty/wet. Comfortable on long journeys, bit of a beast in tight parking places. Feels bigger than it is. It's not a sports car, but can hold it's own with similar vehicles. Controls are wide and varied - I love it cos I like buttons, wife can't operate most of the features, they're too confusing for her. As a general day to day vehicle with good practicality and easy driving it's fine. Personally I preferred the focus, although not sporty it was more fun and also very practical. Would I buy another? Maybe, but it wouldn't be my first choice, it's a bit too plain. We did consider a Nissan, Honda, Toyota and VW, only went with Ford again for easy access to a dealer - I would have preferred the Honda and VW, that latter would still carry a fullsize spare as would the Nissan, not sure about the Honda.
Biggest niggle: No full spare wheel option and nowhere to put it if you have a puncture.
Biggest like: Comfortable, Reliable and Practical
Summary: It's a ford, it does what it says on the tin, excellent dealer network, not exciting but very functional.
