Citroen C5 Aircross (2018 - 2025)
1.5 BlueHDi Max Edition EAT8 Automatic
Looking forward to handing it back
Over the last number of years I have leased my cars, the Citreon C5 Aircross being the latest. I have been moved to write a car review for the first time in case it informs anyone considering buying one of these. I lease a car primarily as a bog standard family car and just want it to be reliable and like to have a few additional extras, but otherwise it's just a thing to take the kids from A to B for me. The C5 Aircross in fairness is very comfortable to drive and the seats are one of the most comfortable I've experienced. And I do like the fact that the rear 3 seats can move and fold independently. Apart from that, there's not much I can recommend it for. It's an automatic and a diesel, so in the morning it can be feel really sluggish and it can struggle when picking up again at low speeds at roundabouts etc. The reversing camera is quite good, but can be glitchy, as can the onboard entertainment system. There isn't as much room in the back as you think there will be (Completely my fault for not viewing the car before leasing) and you have to have the front seats unnaturally far forward to give anyone in the back decent leg/knee space. Appreciate that a lot of warnings etc are related to Euro NCAP ratings, but I've never experienced a car that irritates me so much with pointless, misplaced and distracting warning sounds! The speed warning bleep is a constant irritant. You can disable this, but need to keep disabling it in the menus each time you start the car. It wouldn't be so bad if it was accurate, but it will tell you that you should be going 30mph when you're on the motorway and other bizarre examples. It also screams that you're about to crash when you're not which makes everyone in the car including me soil ourselves. Since getting the car new, it's been subject to a manufacturer recall for the Start/Stop not working. It's never worked since day 1 and online forums suggested it was just very very very temperamental, but maybe it just doesn't work due to this fault. The earliest appointment to get it fixed is months away so I'll not be able to tell for a while yet! Citroën are part of the Stellantis Group, so not just Citroën's being recalled. The latest annoyance is an engine fault warning light telling me that I need to get it looked at asap (the car is less than a year old). Our nearest Citreon dealership cannot do so for 4 months from now!! Hope it's not a catastrophic failure then. One thing I am hoping will not become my problem with it being a lease is the fact that it has a 'wet belt' so if you have no idea what this and why it's important you'd do well to look into it as it's not something your average online car reviewers mention. All things considered, I'd never want to own or lease any car from the Stellantis Group.
