1.4 16v Turismo 3dr Hatchback

gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous

bought this car new from the dealer, primarily because i wanted an Alfa and it was a new model which we don't see many of in Yorkshire.

from the moment i saw it, it melted my heart - from the front and sides its a typical Alfa masterpiece, crafted to beautiful specification. the rear isn't too bad - the LED brake lights aren't just a safety feature, they also make people SEE the car!

the drive is good. i am fortunate enough to have had several cars in my young age and the Alfa is 2nd to the top for me:

the RIDE is comfortable but quite firm - but then it is a sporty hatch;
the HANDLING is precise although understeers badly at speeds of over 50, making country driving a hair raising experience;
the INTERIOR is fantastic - everyone who travels with me feels entertained and relaxed but agrees that it matches the car's sporty looks;
EQUIPMENT is actually poor on this car - no mp3 connectivity as standard, simply auto power windows (both sides) and the DNA switching system which you don't use as much as Alfa would like you too - although putting it into D setting really does turn it into a raging bull!!
MAINTAINENCE is good, Alfa have the best service i have experienced so far and after-sales is good - Piccadilly Motors of Knaresborough are brilliant.
PRACTICALITY - it isn't. i can't hide this fact. the rear seats have no split, don't fold flat and the front seats have very dodgy release handles - be warned!
RELIABILITY - apart from one evening when it refused to start after 6 attempts but then went ok, i have had no issues whatsoever with it.

So to sum up, if you want a cheaper alternative that is distinctive, beautiful and will get you noticed - go with the Alfa MiTo. It has its foibles, but what doesn't?!
