Hi
Have recently bought a New Car and was due to pick it up tomorrow, however the Dealer called me today and gave me the choice of picking it up in the New Year. (Sales quotas for the month have obviously been reached!!)
He says this will add about £500 to the resale value if I decide to sell/trade in 3 years time. Is this true, even though it will still be registered in 2002.
The car is a Focus Zetec 2.0

cheers
Jimbo

If car is registered this year, you could pick it up in July and it would still be a 2002 registered car! Sounds like they may not have the time to pdi/prepare it this month. The only time it would work to your advantage would be if it was registered in January 2003.

I take it, that it has been registered, as he was able to give me the number plate details I requested for insurance purposes.
I can't see why he would want to mess me about and LIE to me, just for his monthly quotas. It is a supposedly reputable Ford Dealer!!

There may be a genuine reason, but if I was in this situation, I would speak to the Dealer and ask them straight out if there is a problem & if so what?

Agreed. Brunel Ford were a bona fide Ford Dealer. Shortly after offering free MOTs for life on all new cars, it said goodbye to this world, seemingly taking the free MOTs with it.

I'm sure it's not shady, but don't trust them just because of the badge.

More likely they've crashed it and they need time to bodge a spray job.
