Hyundai I10 - problematic insurance claim - Aled

I was sitting in driver's seat of my car, engine switched off, in private service yard behind shops where I work, when Transit reversed into my nearside front door. (Nearly £1000 damage, and £200 excess)

Transit driver showed me his insurance documents, and I noted his number plate, Policy numbers, private address, and insurance agent's details.

I reported accident to my insurers and as I have paid extra for legal protection I have been expecting to get the go ahead to get repairs done, and any excess refunded.

Apparently the Transit driver hasn't reported the accident to his insurer, and until he does, his insurers understandably won't authorise the repairs.

Do I wait patiently, or is there anything I can do to move things along?

Any advice grarefully received!

The company who issued your "legal protection cover" will probably not be interested in this because there is little margin without an injury and/or a credit hire.

Your claim is directly against the third party insurer. If you want me to deal with it, get your repairs authorised and recover your excess I can do so with my costs covered by the other party. Send me contact details including a phone number to asklucy@honestjohn.co.uk
