Hi all just looking for a bit of help regarding insurance. I am currently just about to start a new job in a week or two time so I will have to inform them and it will cost me, but in three weeks or so time I have to renew my insurance, can I hold of from telling them until then or to I have to tell them? Also will be buying a focus ST beginning of Jan so this will cost me again when I tell them both in insurance price( which is ok) but I will again have to pay another admin fee, is there anyway around this? Some form of temp insurance or something to save me money?
thanks all

insurance is protection against the unknown
the insurers protect their interests by stipulating certain things called contracts
contracts are two way things
have a nice day :-)

Does this still happen?
I've never paid a fee of any sort for admin for over 25 years, you'll probably have to pay up this time to keep cover but find a proper insurance company next time.

I recently changed insurance from a car with an annual premium of £180 to one with a premium of £145, for the one month the policy had to run. I got no pro-rata refund and didn't expect one but was charged £6 for the work. For various other reasons I have now left these people, with whom I have been insured for 9 years.

my wife never gets charged at her brokers and the insurance is the same as on the internet
consider this at renewal then if you have a local broker in a real shop
its how i do my insurance too but my shop keeper lives many miles away

Is the new job something that would bother or interest your insurers? They aren't keen any branch of entertainment but doing the same work with a different employer wouldn't affect your premium, I would have thought. If you are changing from office work to being a pizza delivery driver, for example, would be rather relevant!

I don't think I have ever been asked for the name of my employer when insuring any of my cars. I have only confirmed the nature of my work.
Is driving a special part of your job that requires this info?

Why do some people moan when they buy cheapo insurance that alterations involve an admin fee?
It's a well known fact of life. Just look at Ryan Air.

what is the point of stupid comments that do not even answer the question I asked.

You were the one who went off at a tangent by subsequently asking - "no what I am sick of is the stupid ridiculous admin fees every time i make a change, £25 - £30 ish a time just to stay legal." - which people then started replying to instead of answering your original question.

does anyone know?, if I claim £375 on car hire insurance for paint damage (this insurance is seperate to my personal car insurance) that I took out for hiring a car in France. will this effect my no claims bonus on my personal car insurance policy?
thanks

It shouldn't affect your NCD as your claim wasn't on that policy.
It could well affect your premium though when asked the question "have you made a claim in the last five years".

thanks.
thats what I was afraid of, it might not be worth it.
