I have a 1.8 52 reg zafira and last year at the vauxhall dealer complained about a stiff inexact gear change and was told no thats o/k,it seemed to vary with the weather,
moisture I suppose.so when I serviced it myself this year I got under and spayed the linkage unit with WD and although not perfect Its a million times better.also watch out for sticking rear calipers and if you ever damage the piston rubber seals, not available at the dealers ,you can buy them on e-bay.

If you carefully unclip the gear stick gaiter you can spray white grease onto the plastic bushes below the gear stick tinyurl.com/yhne7so which does help. You can also lubricate all the bushes on the gear change rod running to the top of the gearbox in the engine bay with a heavier grease - but if it's like my Zafira B this will be mostly hidden at the back of the engine bay so access is restricted.

Also if these people can do a genuine Vauxhall Corsa C gear change mechanism for £45 they may be able to help you with your Zafira A. tinyurl.com/yggd63r
