01 2.0 speedometer not always working on start-up - skylady
Hi
I have a peugeot 406 HDI 2.0 diesel estate, 2001 (Y) reg. I have noticed in the last few days my speedo does not always work when I first start my car, but after about 21/2 miles it starts working and then it appears to be OK for the rest of the day irrespective of how many times I stop and start the car. Leave it over night and it will not work again for the next 2-3 miles,then it's OK. A freind has told us that there is most probably a censor on top of the gearbox or somewhere, that most probably needs removing for cleaning or replacing. No other instuments are affected. Help true or false

Hi there. On D9s (phase 2) the fault is usually on the clocks themselves, maybe a dry joint but possibly just the connector needs reseating.

Hi
thanks for your reply, but found the problem it was the vehicle speed censor located on the final drive casing. we were able to locate one and my son fitted it at the weekend and it apears to have solved the problem. Hope this will help other people in the same situation with this problem. thanks once again
