Yr 2000 Handsfree/stereo wiring advice - mondeo lover
hi all, could someone please help ?


I'm in the process of fitting a handsfree kit to my ford mondeo estate 2000 W reg auto petrol. i need to know what wires i need to tap into to get negative, positive, and ignition also mute if you know it. the four colours on my handsfree kit are
red positive......... to what colour on stereo loom
blue,ignition.........to what colour on stereo loom
yellow, mute.........to what colour on stereo loom
black, negative.........to what colour on stereo loom
any help would be most appreciated. i have no electrical testing equipment.

Buy a cheap multi meter and check them out yourself its very easy.

The wiring colours I have for this year model are as follows ,but I would suggest check with a test light or meter .
red wire to orange/black-permanant 12v supply
blue wire to blue/black aux 12v supply
black wire to black/green ,neg earth supply.
Yellow mute wire connects to unoccupied pin on small row of terminals towards the centre of radio,3rd pin from the bottom.Earthing this pin displays "phone" on radio panel.
You are better off buying a plug and play adaptor lead which allows the phone to be heard thro radio speakers.hth
