Can I have some help from the London based boys, please.
Next Tuesday I have a meeting on Commercial Road (near the City) at about 2:30pm for an hour or so, and then I have a meeting at about 7pm in Temple Fortune, just off the Finchley Road (A598), before it meets the North Circular I think near to Finchley Synagogue.
I intend to drive down in the morning and drive back up later that evening.
How should I do this. Should I park near to Temple Fortune and get trains or what?
Thanks

Commercial Road is a pretty dirty scruffy place on the eastern edge of the City and just outside the Congestion Zone. I wouldn't dream of parking there unless it was for say 15 minutes at a meter. Even then, spaces would be in short supply.
I don't know anything about parking in Finchley and others will know more. I guess, as it's strongly residential, it would be fairly easy to park there but probably not too close to a station. With what little knowledge I have I'd park in Finchley and get the Northern Line to Kings Cross or Moorgate and change on to the Metropolitan Line to Aldgate East. Tube prices without an Oyster Card are ferocious. Find a distributor (likely a newsagent) in Finchley and pay £3 deposit for a card and add £4 to it. You'll save £1 and have it for future London use. The seller will insist you register with your name and details. Either say "no, it's a gift for a friend" or lie. Otherwise, Big Brother will track your movements - not too different to driving then really is it.

Agree with DE. Check out

... for the Tube map and see which Finchley branch Northern Line stations have car parks - though they may get filled up.
IMO public transport in London is pretty good - but damned expensive unless you use Lobster; but even a full-price Travelcard is pretty good value.

After twelve years of living in the Smoke I'd suggest driving to the Hendon/Finchley area, parking and then Tube-ing it from there.

Its a no brainer. You park near your last destination, ie Finchley, and tube it in and out of the City.
Parking around finchley? Most of the area moved to a controlled parking zone about two years ago, pay and display spaces around that dont start till 10:00 or 11:00 am, to prevent the commuters parking, so if you find one of those around mid-day you should be ok. Ask your hosts at meeting two to suggest a road or nearby area.
>I think near to Finchley Synagogue
there are about 30 of them round there!
