fiat punto dynamic 03 automatic gearbox - plm

The dashboard display on my punto keeps telling me "gearbox failure", however the car seems to be driving fine. Am I looking at a problem with the display/computer/sensors or am I likely to be calling for recovery soon?

Just wondered if anyone else has been on the receiving end of worrying messages from their dash?

I think you might be in trouble; check your ATF fluid. Remember, it must be changed every 40,000 km or 25,000 miles. If fluid level is low, then the torque converter, etc. is going to get a little too warm!! IMHO you should get it checked asap. If it's a faulty sensor, then better that than a whole new gearbox - which might be hard to get...
