2008 vw golf 1.9tdi - DPF fitted or not - Lee Beare

Hi

Im getting conflicting advice regarding if my car has a dpf or not. Its showing all the signs of a fault by trying to regenerate every drive. High idle, fan on nearly all the time etc.

Someone memtioned a code on the info sticker in boot and acording to that i have a dpf. Vw says only cars after 2009 had them. Others say some earlier models had them as an option.

Mine is a 2008 golf 1.9tdi with the bxe engine.

I really need to sort this running problem out and have exhausted all my options.

Can anyone help.

Thanks

Unlikely to have a dpf on a bxe pd engine . Check with VW parts dept , they will be able to confirm from the vin number. Also take a look on the engine bay ,at the back , by the bulkhead . See if you can locate some wiring connectors with orange or brown fittings .

So these orange and brown fittings would indicate no dpf ?

Im presuming they would be plugged in somewere if there was one ?

No ,Sorry other way round,. If there are these coloured connectors , then it will have a dpf .

Yes, temperature sensors in the dpf.

So are they plugged into tbe exhaust manifold then ?

Below the manifold , into the dpf canister part of the exhaust, after the turbo.
