Vauxhall meriva 1.4 design - Power sounder on meriva - JaneSmith

I have a 2005 Meriva and the back up alarm power sounder has started to go off randomly when I turn the ignition on. Rather than replace it (part is £79 + vat) , I want to remove it (no one will be stealing a 2005 meriva!) - could anyone confirm where the power sounder is as it is not mentioned in the repair manual - some comments on line refer to it being under the passenger side front wheel arch and others under the rear one.

When this happened to our corsa C, I simply removed the fuse. It should tell you which one in the user manual.

If you disable it, you'll need to inform your insurer of the modification and the fact that the alarm isn't working as Vauxhall intended.

The power sounder is located in the boot area left side, behind plastic trim panel.

Thank you elekie&a/c doctor - after taking both front and rear wheel arch liners off in the past with no joy, it is indeed behind the plastic trim panel near side (where there is a funny grille like area that looks like a speaker to let sound into the car)

This problem happened on a friends 2000 Astra G and was found to be due to a failing battery not providing the necessary voltage (12.4V?). Strangely, the car always started easily.

It's the alarm back-up battery that fails on Vauxhalls, not the main battery. My Astra-G needed new alarm back-up batteries, ie complete sounder unit, every 2 years.
