I agree ORB, no news is good news.

Seldom do Kia/Hyundai feature here with premature failures, or customers being treated with disdain by up their own shirts dealers...well unless you buy Kia 4x4 soft roader and expect it to do the work of an Amazon Landcruiser, but thats hardly the fault of the maker.

The only thing i would suggest is to find out the real servicing costs over the full planned ownership period, Kia/Hyundai can have some stings in the tail when main dealer servicing is taken into account, may get a servcing deal, but i'd want that maker backed in case the dealer goes bust...it's all very well going out of dealer network for servcing, even with genuine parts, but you aint gaining any goodwill brownie points should something go wrong.

Sometimes when maintenance is taken into account, Toyota/Honda score well...only my tuppence, not trying to antagonise the Japanese haters here.

I have a Sorento with a service plan. It is a makers plan. Mine was around £600 for five services, which i think is a bargain for my car. My dealer is excellent. I live in Kidderminster.

3 services £399...

Hmmm looks better.

Two of those will probably be oil change only plus inspections, whats it hold 3.5 litres engine oil?

Its the later and extra ones i'm more thinking about, usually around 4 years on, brake fluid, brake strip clean lube, transmission oil change, coolant, fuel filter, cam belt if fitted, spark plugs, even the cabin filter.

The poster above with the Sorento got a very good deal IMO, so long as all the above are included.

Chain cam engine, brake fluid change at 2 years. Spark plugs at 4 years fuel filter not changed in any service.

5 years same price as other poster. £599

Definately worth the extra £200 for two more services then, spark plugs and brake fluid included, not as a set of NGKs would cost more then £30 even if unobtaniums.

Transmission oil? Brake full strip out? Coolant probably 5 years so would that get included in the 5 year plan.

Seems a bit of a poor bargain compared to the Sorento, might be worth a bit of haggling there.

We had a 1.4 diesel 2 spec Venga when they first came out.

Lots of space, good size boot, but the engine was gutless.

We got rid off it early due to our rubbish local dealer who damaged the door trying to fix a central locking problem.

Kia said parts would be 3 weeks which soon became 7 weeks or longer.

Kia HQ where useless, no communication, no good will despite their car central locking failing, the dealer making it worse and Kia unable to source the part due to demand to build them.

Ended up getting rid, worked out it cost us just short of 600 in depreciation for 6 months motoring which is not to bad.

I get the impression Kia suffer the same problems as Hyundai with lots of rubbish dealer's.

I traded my Rio in for a Venga nearly 12 months ago, mine hasn't missed a beat so far.

I bought a 1.4 Venga 1 Air, the offer that I received through the post for 3 services for £99 was too good to miss.

I cannot fault the dealership from the three and a half years I owned my Rio, it went there for 3 services and its first MOT, the only extra I paid was for a pollen filter on its third service. They even happily found me a ceed for a courtesy car when I grumbled about not being able to get comfortable in the Picanto that they were lending me (being a 6 foot tall lardbucket has its drawbacks!)

I was origionally looking at a new Rio, but much preferred the extra space and higher driving position, the mrs and kids like it too.

A Venga or an ix20 could be a possible replacement for a Cruze, ORB?

It is a possibility for me, but swmbo has something to say.
