Any - DVLA - credit where it's due! - Tester

One sees plenty of criticism of the DVLA over the time they are taking to do things, so I just wanted to recount a 'good news' story reinforcing a point that's often made here about NOT posting anything to Swansea if you don't have to. My wife sold her car on Wednesday last week; we completed the change of ownership details online the same day, and had the acknowledgement and refund of VED within 4 days.

Same, when I traded the Sportage in for the Stonic. New reg doc arrives in 5 days, at the same time as the refund for the old car.

Changed my vehicle(s) yesterday (one trade-in, one new purchase).

All the necessary dealings with DVLA done online in a matter of minutes.

Will let you know if I'm able to beat 4/5-days! ...

Ours came in 5days...it was wrong and had to go back. But quick.

If its on line like tax etc then it's just as quick as it's been for years.

Problem is when paperwork needs to be handled manually, particularly if stuff like health that GDPR rightly accords special status, then it's in a log jam.

Agree, most of the docs are scanned and if the doc is ""tidy" then the process is automated

Most of the public sector has become shambolic "as a result of Covid" but when I had to change ownership of his car after my father in law died, albeit a while ago, the DVLA were the best of all the services we dealt with,

A contrast to BT who wrote "we are sorry you are leaving us and hope you will return soon" ! We still have not stopped laughing at that one!
