Are run flat tyres less robust than ordinary ones?
Are run flat tyres less robust than ordinary ones? I currently have a puncture and when I get the Continental tyre replaced tomorrow, it will be the tenth I have had replaced for flats and punctures in 6.5 years with this BMW. I had my previous BMW for 9 years with conventional tubeless tyres and didn't have a single puncture even though I drive and park in the same areas. I really like the run flats but they are proving costly!

Not less robust. Far from it. Most still use strengthened sidewalls. But low profile tyres (tyres of a profile of less than 55) are generally vulnerable because there is less tyre between the rim and the road so they are more prone to damage from kerbs and potholes.
