Should the spare be the same size as the standard wheels?
I am contemplating buying a nearly new Ford Mondeo Titanium with 18-inch alloy wheels. The dealer says the spare is 16-inch. Should I expect the spare to be the same size as the standard wheels on the car? Would it be legal to drive with three 18-inch wheels and one 16-inch?

No, it's normal for emergency wheels to be a different size from the road wheels. The circumference of the tyre will be roughly the same. It should only be used in emergencies and speed kept down to 50mpg or less.
