Buying a used SUV - Nissan Quashqai or Hyundai ix35

I've decided that my next car will be an SUV and have up to £12,000 to spend. I've narrowed my choice down to either the Nissan Quashqai or the Hyundai ix35 Premium. I'd hope to get a 2011/2012 or 2013 plate for my money but can't really decide between them nor can I decide on which engine. I only do small runs mainly with the occasional motorway journey. Approximately 7000 miles per year. What would you recommend I buy?

Avoid the Qashqai 1.6 non turbo engine. It's underpowered and the car is undergeared for the motorway. Noisy and disappointing. You can't avoid a DPF on a diesel from 2011. KIA/Hyundai's 1.7CRDI is not too bad in the SUVs because they turn the torque down and peak is developed from very low RPM.
