Buying a medium sized estate - what would you recommend?

I'm looking to buy a medium sized diesel estate for around £15,000, around three years old with average mileage. I do about 90 miles a day, mostly on motorway, so it must be economical and a comfortable ride.

I have test driven the Volvo V60, Mazda 6, Audi A4, Volkswagen Passat and Toyota Avensis. I particularly like the Volvo and Mazda. Are there any others that I should be looking at and what would you recommend?

I averaged nearly 60mpg over 6,00 miles in an S60 with the new Volvo 2.0 184PS engine on Shell V-Power, so can confirm its economy. I don't think you'll get that out of any of the others. I got nearly 50 out of a Mazda 6 Skyactiv diesel automatic, so reckon maybe 5 more out of a manual. For what everyone else has been getting, see www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg
