Buying a Nissan Qashqai - what do I need to know?

I want to buy a Nissan Qashqai. I am not sure whether to get brand new or used model. Which model is best?

Tests of the various Qashqai models at www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/ Fuel economy at www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/ Also consider the virtually identical Renault Kadjar (different front styling), the Suzuki Vitara and the much cheaper Dacia Duster. (Currently testing the latest Duster TCe 125.)
