Has water ingress into our Vauxhall Vectra caused the air conditioning system to fail?

There is water in the passenger footwell in our 54-reg Vauxhall Vectra estate. At the same time the motor to the air conditioning and heating system has failed. Do you think the two are linked? I am getting the motor replaced and am hoping that the water will go then. Is this a reasonable thought?

Yes. Blocked vents to the bulkhead vent well. Rainwater has to go somewhere so it has come through the pollen filter into the footwell, and has also short-circuited the heater fan motor.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
