Why can't I get a spacesaver wheel for my E-Class?

I have a 2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI Estate. I recently suffered a puncture and was marooned as Mercedes do not offer a spare wheel or spacesaver on my vehicle. I couldn't use the "glue" they provide as the tyres they fit split as soon as you run them with low pressure.

I asked the dealership if I could purchase a spacesaver wheel, even though I know the space where it would normally fit in the car is taken up by the "ad Blu" tank. They advised that Mercedes would not provide a such a wheel for me. Is there anyway I can buy a spacesaver wheel?

You would have to buy a 5th wheel, so you might as well buy a 5th road wheel, then have a fitting kit fabricated so it can be carried safely in the boot, and, if none is provided, you will also have to buy a jack and wheelbrace. Hopefully Mercedes Benz will address this issue with the next generation of E-Class due later this year.
