Is there any way I can avoid a parking fine for parking in a disabled bay?

I was driving my boyfriend's car legitimately and I parked in a disabled bay in a leisure car park in Manchester for about 20 minutes. When I came out I received a ticket for £40. I know I should not have parked there, but do I need to pay it? I have lost the ticket.

You need to return to the car park and look at what signs are posted there. If there's a sign that explains that you will be fined for parking in a disabled space if you don't have a disabled permit, then you'll have to pay it. You can try writing to the company to plead against the fine, but considering you parked in a disabled space, there's no reason they should let you off.
