Ford Kuga power steering failure

My Ford Kuga recently had a serious issue with the power steering failing suddenly while parking. Ford advised it was a ECU fault and that there was no evidence on what would have caused the issue, To fix was going to £780! I asked Ford motor company to cover the full costs involved in the job, but had no joy, To cut a long story short Ford covered 30% and i have paid the rest, But i am not happy far from it, I have lost faith in the car my partner now refusing to drive in case it was to happen again. What advice would you give?

The connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels is mechanical. That did not fail. What failed was the assistance to the steeering. And that could have been from holding the steering on full lock too much because that forces the assistance to work against the stops. That will be why you are not getting any more help. But you don't have to worry about losing steering; only the assistance to it.
