Which family estate would you recommend to replace our Mercedes-Benz?

I am looking to replace our 57-plate Mercedes-Benz in the next six months. I would like a comfortable and economical estate which is also an enjoyable drive. We have been slightly disappointed with the reliability of our current Mercedes-Benz and I would like a little more power. I previously owned and enjoyed a BMW 5 Series (saloon) but find the style of the new models (interior and exterior) a little disappointing. The Audi A6 seems well rated and I have no idea about Volvo. What would your view be?

Are you referring to the latest BMW F10 5-Series? The Touring version is only just reaching the market. In contrast there are a lot of the new Mercedes-Benz W212 E-Class estates about, and that is the best looking of the new E-Class. Unfortunately, Mercedes-Benz and Audi are having trouble with a small percentage of their Piezo injectors and the very good looking current A6 is due for replacement soon. Volvo V70s are belt cam and not as good as a chain.
