BMW downsizing tyre rim size

Living in rural N Yorkshire, on your recommendation I fitted a full set of Michelin Alpins on my BMW 330i which I leave on all year round. They have proved to be exceptionally good in all circumstances, but I now need to change to a newer F30 Touring model. The two year old 328i I am looking at come with 19-inch rims in M Sport guise, so could I fit 18-inch rims and my existing Alpins which still have lots of tread, but are not run flats?

When we tested the 328i in February 2012 it came on 225/45 R18 tyres and they were okay. See the video here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/bmw/bmw-3-series-f.../ So you must be able to fit your 18-inch wheels with the Alpins, though I wouldn't want them on the car through the summer. If you want on set of tyres for summer and winter you need the new Michelin Cross Climate tyres.
