Audi A6 Avant - should I go for manual or automatic?

I am thinking of changing my manual 2013 Audi A6 Avant 2.0 diesel manual (12,000 miles on the clock) for the newer Ultra with the Multitronic auto box. I will be towing a 1300kg caravan. Is auto model better and more reliable in long term? I plan to keep car for about 4 years.Or should I stay with what I have got?

I wouldn't recommend the Multitronic for towing. And in any case the A6 is up for replacement with a new model this week, which explains the current £10,000 discounts.

For towing I would only recommend a torque converter automatic, such as a Mazda 6 Skyactiv Tourer, which has a better engine than the VAG 2.0TDI and costs a lot less anyway: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mazda/mazda-6-22d-.../
