How do we go about importing our German-registered Mitsubishi Shogun Sport to the UK?

My husband is serving in HM Forces Germany, and we are about to return to England. We have a Mitsubishi Shogun Sport, which was purchased in Germany at NAAFI car sales as a new vehicle. Although in the past we have taken leave in the UK and brought the vehicle with us, we now need to know the legalities of importing the vehicle on a permanant basis as we are due to return in the next few weeks. We have consulted the DVLA website but find it confusing to say the least.

No problem. It was purchased VAT-free and remains VAT-free. The NAAFI can advise you about importing it to the UK.
