Buying a BMW 435i - auto or manual?

I drive a BMW 330i M Sport Coupe and love it. My next car will most likely be a 4 series, but sadly there is no equivalent 430i. Whilst the 428i performs well on paper (even faster than mine) I doubt it can be as nice an engine, with two cylinders missing. I am therefore considering stretching myself to a 435i M Sport.

I've always had manual gearboxes and it is unlikely I will do any different this time - despite the auto box being faster, more economical and producing less CO2. However, I just wondered how it will affect residuals?

That's an interesting question.

In trade terms, yes, because the trade will want the car that the public wants.

But this will create a shortage of manuals and there will always be enthusiasts who prefer a manual 435i to an auto.

As I would, with this particular engine.
