Should I bother getting a DSG auto?

With the well publicised problems with the DSG gearbox (does this effect both the 6 and 7 speed versions) do you recommend actually buying a vehicle equipped with one? I assume that warranties would cover any eventualities?

No. The worldwide recall is for the 7-speed dry clutch DSG built in 2012 and 2013 which was filled with synthetic oil that can crystallise in high temperatures resulting in a loss of drive. The wet clutch 6 speed is more robust. But all need a change of transmission fluid every 3 - 4 years anyway.

The problem of a shift quadrant that does not allow a shift from N to D without pressing the brake pedal, and a delay between the brake light switch and the throttle switch remains a problem area.
