Ford Mondeo sat nav has failed - who should pay for the repairs?

Our 2007 Ford Mondeo's factory-fitted sat nav no longer works as the GPS has failed. According to our local Ford dealership - this is due to water ingress - a corroded aerial base and cable. This will cost over £300 to repair.

My friendly local mechanic can't do it for much less as the parts are so expensive, but a quick internet search suggests a design flaw. We have only had the car for seven months, do we have a case for compensation from the manufacturer?

Not from Ford. Maybe from the dealer who sold you the car.
