What is causing our Volkswagen Polo DSG to hiccup when pulling away?

My wife's 2010 Volkswagen Polo with DSG has shown exactly the same bad characteristics as AD of Chorley has experienced. The problem, which took ages to diagnose, was with the ‘Mechatronics’. The car was virtually unfit for purpose and was quite dangerous in certain circumstances. This component took some eight weeks to come from Germany and we subsequently discovered that our local dealer had a further three on order for the same problem.

Investigation has established a turbo hiccup with 1.2TSI 105 DSGs. But the main problem is VAG's insistence on a brake interlock. On all VAG cars, you have to touch the brake pedal to move the lever from N to D. The system communicates via the brake light switch that can be slow to react. And there is also a programme that prevents the car being accelerated when the car's systems think the brakes are on. The result is you can move out of a side road or onto a roundabout on the fuel already in the engine, then about 3 - 4 metres into the manoeuvre, the engine momentarily and heartstoppingly cuts out for a second, before clearing and accelerating as normal. The answer is to get well off the brakes entirely before accelerating, which can make emerging into gaps in traffic very difficult.
