Do all Audi A3 automatics suffer from jerky pickup when accelerating?

I have a 2006 Audi A3 2.0TDI 170 with the DSG gearbox bought from an Audi dealer nearly a year ago. I have had continual dissatisfaction with very jerky and uncomfortable pickup in stop start traffic. It is excellent when actually on the move. It has had a new Mechatronics unit, then recently new driveshafts all under warranty but it has made little difference. The dealer is now telling me that this is the way they are and maybe I am just not suited to it. Does VAG really think this is normal? What should I do before my warranty runs out in a month?

It is also my experience of DSGs, largely due to VAG's insistence of putting a detent in the selector that requires you to brake to get it from N to D. Any braking sends a message to the ECU to cut revs and that's why you get these annoying and very dangerous hesitations when pulling out of side roads or onto roundabouts in traffic.
