Winter driving - is the Honda CR-V any good?

Honda is offering me a tempting deal on the new 2014 CR-V 1.6 diesel; however, I’m worried its two-wheel drive will struggle to cope with rural roads in winter. If I put winter tyres on the Honda, will it be able to cope with another snowy season?

Might be okay with winter tyres. I don't know. Maybe better to go for a Peugeot 2008 or 3008 with Grip Control. That definitely works. Got me up a 1-in-3 ski slope of hard packed snow, and the excellent Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons tyres stay on all year and don't wear any worse than summer tyres.
