Buying a new Megane - diesel or petrol?

I'm looking to upgrade my 200,000 mile Volkswagen Golf GTi to a more sensible family estate/MPV, I have around £20,000 to spend. I will be doing around 12 - 14,000 miles a year and the new Renault Megane sports tourer has caught my eye.

The question is do I go for the allegedly fantastic diesel Dci 130 or the petrol TCe 130? OR should I give up with Renault and buy a Ford EcoBoost instead?

The 1.2 petrol is a TCe 115. That and the 1.6 dCI 130 are both tested here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/renault/renault-me.../

Both these engines are chain cam. The 1.4TCe 130 is also chain cam but an older Nissan engine, curiously dropped from the Scenic but retained in the Megane. Ford's 1.6TDCI 115 and 1.6 EcoBoost are both bet cam. The diesel should give 55mpg and the EcoBoost 45-50 but a much more sporty drive.
